Hertz Malaysia Rental Counter | Kota Kinabalu International Airport

I booked a Hyundai Kona for pick up in Kota Kinabalu at 11 am on 16 November 2025 via Booking.com. At pickup I found 3 tires and the spare worn beyond what would be safe for driving. I declined the car. staff insisted that the vehicle passed their inspection. They took it back to their yard to change the tires, as I continued to talk to the staff at the counter in the airport, I offered to accept a replacement car. At 12pm they delivered a Toyota Innova with good tires and I had no problem with the vehicle for the next 6 days.

Wir haben für 4 Tage ein Auto gemietet… Nach einer guten Stunden mussten wir anhalten weil unsere Bremsen überhitzt waren. Wir mussten umdrehen und bei Herzt angekommen sagte die Mitarbeiterin mit einem lachen, dass Ihnen dieses Problem bereit bewusst sei. Sie gaben uns bewusst ein kaput Auto!! Absolute frechheit… Sie nahm sich auch keine Zeit uns die Abgabepapiere zukommen zulassen und so mussten wir noch einmal an den Flughagen und darauf beharren. Nie mehr!!!

Rented a car for the holiday recently during the harvest festival. Counter staff is friendly and helpful, the whole process of getting the car is very smooth. Prebooked a Persona but was upgraded to a City. Car is 4 years old but looks like it just rolled out of the showroom. Its very clean and well maintained (tyres are new with sufficient pressure, car is very clean, etc). Would recommend renting from them.

It was the best car rental experience. They provided the car where I asked for and tailored the drop off destination, the car was brand new, the staff was extremely helpful and responsive. Overall amazing! (Note: I suggest to rent Ford Ranger as the roads in Sabah could be bumpy)
